It’s Friday so the market will be open (4 to 6 PM) mainly to sell eggs. And today I have some raspberry starts (1 to 2 feet tall) to sell (10 for $10 plus tax). If you have 10 ft. in a sunny location, you can grow your own delicious raspberries.
So why a picture of bees? Yesterday one of my hives swarmed and made a stop in a lilac bush. Around 3,000 – to 10,000 bees (half weighing a branch almost to the ground and half on the ground. So I placed a new box under the bush in front of the bees and scooped the queen off the branch and placed her in the box. When the bees caught the scent of the queen in the box, they rushed the entrance to get into the box. Within 15 minutes most of the bees were in the box. Then at dusk I sealed the entrance and carried the box to its permanent location in the bee yard. This morning, the bees are starting to come out and orient themselves to this new location.
